PROBLEM

Cheek lipoatrophy, most commonly known with human immunodeficiency virus, also might happen with genetic predisposition at an early age.[1] In such patient, it is tough to perform CO2 or other types of resurfacing laser as we cannot stretch the concave skin to deliver the energy at scar surface [Figure 1a].

SOLUTION

A simple modification of putting a rolled gauge piece between the cheek from inside and the teeth will make the outer surface convex and make it very easy to deliver the laser energy [Figure 1b].
